It's A Family Affair

..... .Gin's baby has been named Olive, and she is adorable. How interesting it is to see everyone in the group interact with Gin and how curious they were about the new baby. At different points in the morning, a few chimps were huddled in the upper structure by Gin and there was quite a bit of grooming and touching going on. Irene seems to be hanging in there as Gin is still giving her some attention. I do feel bad for Irene, though, as she has had 2 major changes in the last 2 months. Her favorite playmate, Bamboo, is still in the house, and now her Mom is tending to the new baby. So it appears that she is little lonely. There was also some concern about Juniper, as she wasn't very reactive to Gin in the first few days. However, on Sunday, she appeared to come around a bit. The support Little Mama gave to Gin was amazing. She was so tender and loving with her and Olive. It was quite heartwarming to witness. Gin, being the proud mother, was kind enough to periodically come to the front of the structure, almost as if she was putting the baby on display for everyone to see.... For anyone wishing to take pictures, it seems the afternoons are better for lighting as some of us found out on Sunday!!!
