THE CHIMPS…… and us

......The picture of Santa is to remind you all that it won't be long before we are filling and wrapping a zillion boxes. Watch your neighbors trash, haunt garage sales, and find all that stuff at home that you are about to throw out.

......We are going to participate in LCS Halloween festivities on October 31. We will have a booth to show and tell what we are about and perhaps we will attract some new observers.

......Now that the weather is nicer, it is very pleasant out in the preserve so I hope you all will get out and observe. If you need help, I am a phone call or email away to make a date to meet.

......We had a very good enrichment workshop in October. Bottles of Jello, big plastic containers with honey and stuff in them, lots of cardboard tubes with goodies. Since it had been a while since we had met, it was time to stock up the freezer for the keepers. I hope you all will be able to come on Nov. 21 for the next workshop.

......There have been a few rhino invasions of late so keep your eye out when they get close to the gate. Never be more than 10 feet from your car and be prepared to get in it and go.

......All of the chimps are finally out of the house!!! Bashful was the last one out and he is now in the group with Cooper, Doll, Swing and Dandy.

......Melody and Sabrina have been out about a week and that group will be permanently on Island 5 for the time being. They have a special feeding box at the feeding station and since they have to take the girls in frequently for medical tests, it is the only logical way to place them. The other groups will move as usual and when they go from Island 4 to 1 or 1 to 4 they will cross over 5 while Ian's group is in house. It will be interesting to see how Ian does as head honcho since he has been badgering Bashful for the job so long.

…..and STUFF

......We are getting new observers all the time so I hope when you are out to the preserve and you see someone new, please stop and see if they need help.

......The address list I gave out at the last meeting has so many errors that I am going to start over and when I get it done will email it to you all and you can print it out.

......We will have our December enrichment on Sunday, the 19th from 1 - 3 as usual. I am trying to get permission to use the pavilion over at the campgrounds where we will have a roof over our head and plenty of room to spread out. Put it on your calendar so we have a good turnout. It’s a lot of work but if we all come, it gets done fast.

......Santa will be coming to visit the chimps on Wednesday, Dec. 22. The time has not been set, nor have the viewing arrangements. Will get an email off to you as soon as I know. Hope many of you can come.

......I spoke to Ernie and he is willing to have a behavior class in January so as soon as the holidays are over we will make plans for that. We have been having it on Wed. nights from 7-9 for six weeks. If Wed. is a bad night for any of you, please let me know. This is not exclusive for new observers, any of you can come for a refresher.

......Some of the new shirts came in and have been sent to get the backs printed. I have 6 large and 6 xlarge, but no mediums yet. They are still looking to see if they have any, so I will keep you posted.
